Gill moves second in the historic list of most IPL runs scored in a single season

Shubman Gill, the star batter of Gujarat Titans, etched his name in the record books during the IPL 2023 final against CSK. Gill's exceptional batting performance added another feather to his cap as he achieved a unique record in the tournament.

Gill scored 39 off just 20 balls, which included seven fours at a staggering strike rate of 195.00. He had to depart when Dhoni aided Jadeja with his lightning fast stumping.

Gill's run tally in this season places him second on the list of most runs by a player in an IPL season, scoring 890 runs and going past the likes of Jos Buttler who scored 863 runs and David Warner (848 runs). Virat’s 973 runs in the 2016 season remains ahead of Gill’s feat.

Gill’s achievements extend to the Indian contingent as well, having the second-highest boundary count by an Indian player scoring 118 boundaries only behind Virat Kohli who scored 121 boundaries in the legendary 2016 season.

With Gill finishing the IPL on a good note, it solidifies the claim of him being the next big thing in Indian cricket. He is already showing that he isn’t part of the future, but is here to rule in the present.
